Scientist Virology Level I-II
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Scientist with a strong background in virology to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with viral assays, particularly for both RNA and DNA viruses. This role requires proficiency in developing protocols for new viruses, qPCR, viral scale-up, and 96-well cell-based assays for clinical sample testing. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform plaque assays for RNA and DNA viruses to quantify viral titers.
- Develop, optimize, and validate protocols for emerging and novel viruses.
- Develop and conduct quantitative PCR (qPCR) assays for viral detection and quantification.
- Scale-up viral stocks for research and development purposes.
- Design and execute 96-well cell-based assays to assess viral infection, replication, cytotoxicity and other mechanism of action studies, as needed.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures and results.
- Write and revise protocols, reports, and scientific documents with a high-level of proficiency.
- Analyze and interpret data, presenting findings in written and oral formats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Virology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related field with 3-4 year’s of experience OR PhD in related field with minimum 3 years of experience in industry.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of hands-on experience with viral assays, including plaque assays for RNA and DNA viruses. Experience with TCID50 and PRNT assays is a plus.
- Proficiency in developing and optimizing protocols for new and emerging viruses.
- Experience with quantitative PCR (qPCR)
- Demonstrated ability to scale-up viral stocks.
- Hands-on experience with 96-well cell-based assays.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Proficient in writing protocols, reports, and scientific documents.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with assay development and protocol development.
- Familiarity with PowerPoint, Word, GraphPad Prism, and Excel Fit
- Basic Knowledge of current Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP) and regulatory guidelines.
